News Bites is built to provide a fast, clean, and private reading experience. We do not show advertisements, we do not have in-app purchases, and we do not require you to create an account. To provide you with relevant local news, we detect your general region, but we do not track your precise GPS location, nor do we link your reading habits to your personal identity.
ShekTech ("we," "us," or "our") built the News Bites app as a Free application. This SERVICE is provided by ShekTech at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
Information Collection and Use
News Bites is designed to be a streamlined RSS aggregator. We do not require you to provide us with directly identifiable personal information (like your name, email, or phone number) to read the news. The app is distributed through platforms that may collect basic diagnostic data, such as crash logs or download statistics, to ensure the app functions correctly across different devices.
Location Data and Auto-Region Detection
To provide our "Auto-Region Detection" feature and serve you the most relevant local and global headlines (e.g., specific news for India, USA, UK, etc.), our app must determine your general geographic region. We accomplish this by checking your device's country/locale settings or your general Internet Protocol ("IP") address when fetching news feeds. We do not request, continuously track, or store your precise GPS coordinates. This regional data is used strictly in real-time to curate the appropriate news sources and is not tied to a personal profile.
External Links and Third-Party Publishers
News Bites acts as a smart RSS aggregator. We curate and display summary cards with headlines and images from original publishers (such as Times of India, CNN, BBC, TechCrunch, etc.). When you tap on a news card to "Read the Full Story," you are directed to the original publisher's external website or platform.
Please Note: We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, cookies, or tracking practices of these third-party news websites. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of any external site you visit through our app.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because News Bites does not require user accounts and does not store your reading history on our external servers, there is no centralized personal profile to delete. Any cached articles or saved reading preferences are stored locally on your device.
How to delete your data: You can clear your localized app data (such as cached images or region settings) at any time by clearing the app's cache in your device's system settings, or by simply uninstalling the News Bites app.
Children's Privacy
These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take the necessary actions.
Log Data and Security
Whenever you use our Service, in the case of an error or crash in the app, we may collect data and information (through standard App Store and Google Play developer consoles) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include generic information such as your device IP address, device model, operating system version, the time and date of the crash, and other diagnostics. We value your trust in using our app and strive to protect your data, but please remember that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
